Getting Here

  • SFO — San Francisco Intl. ~35 min to Palo Alto. Caltrain from Millbrae (~1 hr, $10–15) is the easiest option.
  • SJC — San Jose Mineta ~15 min by car. Most convenient airport for Stanford. No direct transit.
  • OAK — Oakland Intl. Often cheapest. BART to Millbrae, then Caltrain south to Palo Alto.
  • Caltrain Palo Alto Station is walking distance to campus. Frequent service from SF. caltrain.com
  • By Car I-280 S from SF is the scenic route; US-101 is faster. Stadium parking requires an advance Stanford permit — plan for rideshare.

  • Sheraton Palo Alto Full-service, walkable to University Ave restaurants and bars.

  • Hyatt House Palo Alto Near US-101; good rates and easy parking.
  • Redwood City & Menlo Park 5–10 min drive, more options, and often lower prices. Worth checking.

  • The Dish 3.6-mile loop hike on campus with sweeping Bay Area views. Free, open daily.
  • San Francisco 45 min by Caltrain. Golden Gate Bridge, Mission District, Fisherman's Wharf — worth a half-day.
  • Napa Valley ~90 min north. Add a Thursday arrival for a wine country detour before the weekend kicks off.
  • Computer History Museum Mountain View, ~15 min. Surprisingly fascinating — even for non-tech people.
